I Love June in the Garden

June and July are my favorite months in my yard.  Just about everything is blooming and the hot, hot days of August haven't yet taken their toll on the flowers.

This is the beginning of the third summer for the plants around and in the pond to grow.  Everything is filling in nicely.  The daisies on the right are enormous!!

The lavender and some daylilies are blooming. The daisies and coneflowers are about to explode with blooms. I can't wait!

Several families have taken up residence this year. Some of the places look awfully full of nesting material!  I absolutely love that the birds use the birdhouses!

Thanks for coming by.  I hope everything is blooming in your yards now too!

Peony in Bloom

We have a beautiful tree peony right by our front door.  It is heavenly in spring when it blooms!

There are six blooms on it right now and all of them are huge!

Just a few days ago one of the buds looked like this.

What a difference a few days make.

Peonies were my Mom's favorite flowers, so it always touches my heart to see these.  She would've loved them!

Thanks for your visit.

Backyard in Bloom

After a long winter,  my backyard plants are finally starting to show their stuff!  :)   I planted all of the perennials last summer so they are still filling in.  Some things are working well where they are and some may have to be moved in the fall.

The daisies are just starting to bloom.  The daylillies are too.  A few coneflowers have started.  There will be lots more!  The lavender and salvia create a nice contract to the other plants.

The daisies by the pond have gone crazy!  I do have other things back there, but you'd never know it!  I will have to figure out what's hiding back there and move them somewhere else!

I haven't ever loved this tree because it sent shooters out all over my planting beds.  Well, now it's dying (ok, it's dead!), but I don't want to remove it yet.  I've been waiting for months for my perennials to bloom and removing it right now would tear up everything around it.  We can take it out in the fall.

There are rose of sharon and hollyhocks toward the back of this bed that should be blooming like crazy in the next couple of weeks.

Thank you for visiting!

Explosion of Blooms

The lupine that I posted about a couple of weeks ago is now in full bloom.  I counted 49 spires of blooms on it!!  (My husband thinks I must have too much time on my hands to have counted them.)    :)

My Mom's favorite flowers were peonies.  It's so special to me to see them bloom!

I love the darker pink color of this lupine.

My pots are starting to get very colorful.

I spend several months a year (very impatiently) waiting for the good weather.  I am so very happy when it finally warms up and I can be out in my yard everyday!

Thanks for visiting!

Those Pesky April Showers Did Promise May Flowers

We've finally made it to May and finally some things in my yard are blooming!

Just a couple of weeks ago, my yard looked like this.  Yes, in April...

Now it looks like this:

The best part is that my office is right there, so I get to look right out at this beauty.

I absolutely love this peony right under the weeping cherry.

And since it's almost Mother's Day, in honor of my Mom who loved clematis, here is what was right out my kitchen window of my old house.  Even the sweet woodruff were blooming like crazy underneath it.  It was a beautiful sight!

I hope everything is blooming in your yards!  I wish everyone an early very Happy Mother's Day!

Thanks for visiting!

I am Not a Fan of Crazy Spring Weather!

Two days ago I was outside in shorts--probably not a good look with how wintery-white my legs are right now--but it was beautiful outside!  I was able to cut back the perennials that I didn't get to this fall and do some general clean up in the yard.  I even saw this bird checking out the birdhouse for a potential new home.

My bulbs are slowly, slowly making their way up.  Good thing since none of the perennials are ready yet!

The weeping cherry is starting to get buds.  You can bet I'll do another post when this beauty is in full bloom!

And now today....

I know it's not a lot of snow, so I am not complaining too much (but still complaining!)

I did hear on the news last night that March, April and May are the wettest months in our area.  Darn it, why did I have to hear that??

I hope it's sunny and beautiful wherever you are today!  Please soak up some of the sun for me.  We're supposed to be stormy till next Wednesday....

Thank you so much for coming by.  I really appreciate your visits and comments!

Birdhouse LOVE!

I adore birdhouses.  I have them all over my house, all over my yard and love them!
I've tried to limit the number I have in this yard, but there are still plenty.  Yes, I am a birdhouse addict!
The best part of having them is when I see a family making their home in them!  Oh my gosh, I love that!

I am so excited to show you my newest one that I got from Suzanne at Thrift Store Decor Junky.  She had a giveaway on her blog and I won a CSN Stores gift certificate.

Do you like my 'box inspector'?  :)  He's very thorough!

Of course I picked a birdhouse!  Thank you so much Suzanne!!!  I may put it outside when the weather warms up, but until then, I'll be enjoying it in the house!

This one was one of my all time favorites.  My husband built one for me and one for my Mom (yes, she was an addict too!)  When we moved two years ago, the birdhouse had to stay as it had been outside in the Oregon rain for ten years.  I was sad that we weren't able to bring it along with us.  During the summers, a beautiful clematis would grow up the 4x4 and shasta daisies grew at the base.

Another favorite.  I took all kinds of "snow on the birdhouses" pictures because in Portland, we just didn't get snow that often.  It was exciting!  I purchased this at the Portland Expo several years ago.

Yes, another snowy birdhouse picture.  My husband made this one.  I love it.

Here is one in my new backyard.  This was taken last summer.  Yes, I am ready for summer to get here again soon!!
Here is one of the birds (on the left side on the lower roof) that made its home in here last summer.   It made me so happy to see this family in here!

What sort of things do you collect?

Thank you so much for coming by and for your comments.  I appreciate them very much!
