Simple Red and White Christmas Table

I love seeing pretty Christmas tables.  I love gingham and plaid fabrics, especially in red.

Yesterday I was on a mission to find some dishes to go with some square white plates that I already had.  I was so excited to find these snowman plates from Pier 1.  They were exactly what I'd had in mind and were on sale to boot!

I used my Mom's silver, which I am so happy to have.

I was thrilled to find the gingham napkins, pretty bell napkin rings and plaid placemats at Pier 1 as well.

Even though we always sit in the same places at our table, I think the placecard holders are cute.

I used  a Santa that was my Mom's for the centerpiece and poinsettias in galvanized pots.

I'm trying to simplify my decorating this year.  I like how this  looks festive and was easy to do.

Thanks so much for your visit!

Fluffing our Empty Nest

We just got back from taking both of our kids to college.  It's a very strange feeling to be empty-nesters!  In the spirit of this, I came up with this simple "nest-themed" tablescape.

I used my Mom's silver.  She purchased it piece by piece when she was 18.  I am so thrilled to have it!

I found these square bowls at TJMaxx on clearance.

I found this nest at Twig.   I LOVE her stuff!

I made these napkins this summer.  HERE  is the link to learn how I made them.  Jane at Cottage at the Crossroads told me about the grapevine napkin rings she found at Hobby Lobby.  I think they look great and were really cheap there!   (on sale for $1.25 for six!)

I made these topiaries a few weeks ago.  HERE are the directions for making them.

I found these birds at TJMaxx for $1.99 each.

A little bit of brown paint and they look so much better!

I have to keep the doors closed if I have the table set so Bailey the cat doesn't come in.  :)  He is sure the table is set for him!

Thank you so much for visiting!

Simple Garden Themed Tablescape

I hate to admit it, but sometimes it's just too hot to eat outside here during the summer.  When it is, we eat in the dining room.  I love anything with birds or garden themes, so it was fun to put this tablescape together.

I used a birdcage, some plants and several cast iron birds in the center.

I found these adorable garden plates and bowls at The Dollar Tree several years ago.  I only bought four of each and am now so disappointed that I didn't buy more.  A friend gave me the little napkin holder pots and napkins.  I think they are so cute!  I got the placemats at Kohl's.  I love the texture of them.

I was in Pottery Barn last week and they had these bird nest place card holders for $1.87 for four.  I bought the last two sets.  I'm not sure if I'll keep all eight as place card holders or maybe just use some as bird nests.

I am looking forward to serving dinner in here tonight!

Thanks so much for visiting.
