It's Time for My Easter Nests

It's that time of year to make my favorite Easter treats.
 ( reposting from last Easter)

These nests are so easy to make and taste great!

You'll need a 1/4 cup of butter, a bag of chow mein noodles and a bag of marshmallows.

Melt 1/4 cup of butter and 2 cups of marshmallows on the stove for about 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Once the marshmallows are melted, turn the heat off and add 4 cups of chow mein noodles.  Mix thoroughly.

Use a really clean muffin tin.  Rub butter in each spot.

Put a bit of the mixture in each spot.   Use butter on your clean hands too so you can push the mixture around to create the nest.  This recipe makes about 15 nests.  If you want to make more, buy two bags of chow mein noodles for each bag of marshmallows.

Put them in the freezer for a couple of hours, then carefully remove the nests with a butter knife.

I put some parchment paper down, then put the nests on that.

Add M&M's, Robin's Eggs or jelly beans as the 'eggs' and you're done!

Fluffing our Empty Nest

We just got back from taking both of our kids to college.  It's a very strange feeling to be empty-nesters!  In the spirit of this, I came up with this simple "nest-themed" tablescape.

I used my Mom's silver.  She purchased it piece by piece when she was 18.  I am so thrilled to have it!

I found these square bowls at TJMaxx on clearance.

I found this nest at Twig.   I LOVE her stuff!

I made these napkins this summer.  HERE  is the link to learn how I made them.  Jane at Cottage at the Crossroads told me about the grapevine napkin rings she found at Hobby Lobby.  I think they look great and were really cheap there!   (on sale for $1.25 for six!)

I made these topiaries a few weeks ago.  HERE are the directions for making them.

I found these birds at TJMaxx for $1.99 each.

A little bit of brown paint and they look so much better!

I have to keep the doors closed if I have the table set so Bailey the cat doesn't come in.  :)  He is sure the table is set for him!

Thank you so much for visiting!

Pretty Bird Nest Napkins

I love decorating with birds, nests, birdhouses, birdcages, etc., so I was thrilled when I found this image.

When I found plain white cotton napkins, I knew just what to do with them.

I used my ink jet printer and Lesley Riley's TAP Transfer Artist Paper.

I cut the image out so there wasn't any white showing around it.

I ironed it on the back side as instructed.  (It took less than a minute to do this step).

 Here's the finished product.

I am excited to use these for my next dinner party.

I've had a few questions about how washing affects the graphics.  I've never had any problems and the graphics still look great!

Thank you for visiting!

Simple Garden Themed Tablescape

I hate to admit it, but sometimes it's just too hot to eat outside here during the summer.  When it is, we eat in the dining room.  I love anything with birds or garden themes, so it was fun to put this tablescape together.

I used a birdcage, some plants and several cast iron birds in the center.

I found these adorable garden plates and bowls at The Dollar Tree several years ago.  I only bought four of each and am now so disappointed that I didn't buy more.  A friend gave me the little napkin holder pots and napkins.  I think they are so cute!  I got the placemats at Kohl's.  I love the texture of them.

I was in Pottery Barn last week and they had these bird nest place card holders for $1.87 for four.  I bought the last two sets.  I'm not sure if I'll keep all eight as place card holders or maybe just use some as bird nests.

I am looking forward to serving dinner in here tonight!

Thanks so much for visiting.

Super Easy Easter Nests and a Winner!

I love making these nests for Easter.  Everyone looks forward to them and they are so easy to make!

2 cups Mini Marshmallows
1/4 cup Butter
4 cups of Chow Mein Noodles
Jelly Beans, M&M's or Robin's Eggs to fill

--This recipe makes about 12 nests.  If you want to make more, buy two bags of Chow Mein Noodles.  You'll have plenty of Marshmallows with one bag.

In 2 quart saucepan, melt the butter and marshmallows.  Stir until smooth.  Take off of heat and immediately add chow mein noodles.  Stir until coated with marshmallow/butter mixture.

Use a very clean 12 count cupcake pan.  Rub butter in all cups.

Put butter on your hands.  Spoon the coated chow mein noodles in each cup, then use your hands to form it into  little nests.

Put the cupcake pan in freezer for an hour or so (or even overnight).  To pop each nest out, I usually use a butter knife to gently pry it out.   I use parchment paper or wax paper between the plate and the nests so they don't stick.   Fill with candy and enjoy!

Sometimes I find the candies on the plate and the nests have all been eaten!  They are delicious.

Thank you to everyone who entered my first giveaway!  The winner is:  Grammy Goodwill. Congratulations!
